Although Evelyn’s work is a process of working in multiple layers, cutting, scratching & digging with sharp tools. Rugged textures, earthy colors. The paintings take on a life of their own.
Abstraction is my voice. Painting in this manner has made me comfortable with uncertainty and feels like painting without a net. Each painting can be a road back into the past.
Painting for me is a way of renewing & exploring my connection to and feeling for the land. I am naturally drawn to abstraction, and have a love for experimentation, both of which are supported by the materials & the methods that I use.
My paintings celebrate the interplay of past and present, imagined and tangible, that which is lost and what remains.
